Spotlight: Snowed in for Christmas

This holiday season marks the return of St. Lawrence College’s Music Theatre Performance Program to Aultsville Theatre for their holiday themed production Snowed in For Christmas sponsored by Friends of Music Theatre.

The show promises ticket holders holiday fun and is a great way to get into the spirit of the season with three public performances being offered as listed below.

Recently, we caught up with Writer and Director, Seanna Kennedy, to learn a bit more about what guests can expect at these performances.

Tell us a bit more about the show. What can guests expect?

'Snowed in for Christmas' is a Christmas jukebox musical featuring lots of familiar holiday hits (Including White Christmas, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, You're a Mean one Mr. Grinch etc), big splashy dance numbers and a storyline that ties it all together in a light hearted Broadway meets Hallmark Christmas movie plot.

You can expect to hear some holiday tunes you love and some that may be new to you, watch some impressive dancing and laugh out loud at the antics of the characters as you enjoy the performance!

What sets this show apart from others?

The show is performed by a large cast made up of the talented students of the St. Lawrence College Musical Theatre Program, the future stars of Canadian musical theatre, as well as an incredible 16 piece orchestra.

About Snowed in For Christmas

The former theatre club of Hollyberry High reunites for a one-night-only Christmas Concert spectacular, but a sudden blizzard interrupts the show, trapping the performers and audience in the theatre. The show must go on but not quite in the way they expected. Personal feelings, past secrets, and a search for some Christmas cheer spill out onto the stage amongst the classic Christmas songs. In the tradition of the Golden Age of Broadway with a little Hallmark Holiday movie stirred in and a sprinkle of contemporary musical theatre on top, 'Snowed In For Christmas' features a large and immensely talented cast of students from St. Lawrence College's Musical Theatre program performing some of your favourite holiday songs from Broadway and beyond. It's a feel-good, nostalgia-packed holiday treat!
